  • I am working out for an hour to two hours everyday or six days a week. I don't have good eating habits but stick to a 1200 calories diet. I lost some weight but I put it back on again I don't know if I am over working myself or does it have to with my food.  I am on levothyroxine 50 mcg daily at the same time everyday.   • i am hypo since 1 and a half year.. taking medicine doing belly dance cardio workout which is for 30 mins.. eating almost 1000 calories a day.. taking lipton green tea 2 times a day.. just want to ask.. m i going fine :/

  • explains why insanity didn't do squat…. weight was the same, despite sweaty face, despite elevated heart bpm……. with or without the workout, weight stayed the same. with or without the pills… weight stays same as well. pills only improved heartbeat, sensitivity to cold and bloated feeling… whats the effin point? i'm starting to think its stress… stress levels seem to correlate with the date of my diagnosis… this is some bull. i give up, this is futile. suicide here i come.

  • I have been eating clean and exercising since three weeks, lost 5 pounds then had just two three cookies during my periods and regained three pounds 🙁 Can that be thyroid problem or something else? Do people with thyroid problems lose weight temporarily or they don't lose weight at all? Looking forward to hearing from you.

  • hello sir,,,my wife is hypo tsh is optimal at 1.5,,,my wife is a housekeeper very active job,,her daily burn is so high she cant eat to keep up with it,,,3500 according to our counter which i test on myself and its close im only 2600,,,she eats 1500 healthy calories ,,,since raising her levo optimal she has gained 30 pounds,,is this job putting too much stress on her causing her to swell from cortisol or starvation mode,,,,her belly has swelled

  • Thank you Doc   for your  advice…   I am working out every day  -well,  almost every day-  and I could never do more than half an hour…   love weight lifting for my thin bones and some not so intense aerobic exercise…  Try my best BUT it is so difficult to lose the three kilos I am  carrying around hips.   Thank you and please give us whatever advice you have for us…

  • Thank you so much for your info about exercising…   actually I am doing it right…   I was diagnosed with Hypothyrodism  2  years ago, it is under control  but I never want to experience the lack of energy I experienced before I was diagonesed…  I am willing to do whatever it takes to feel  "my normal"  self.   Please give us as much info as possible.  I live in Japan where doctors just give you de medicine but no much information or advice.  Actually my doctor is so good and thankful for that.  Again, thank you!!!

  • I have been constantly struggling for about 8 years now with hypothyroidism. I have gained about 150 pounds all together due to my thyroid problems and my body being completely thrown off track. I feel absolutely horrible and I am unable to loss weight. I have been diagnosed with anxiety/ocd/depression/panic attacks, kidney stones, and now they are monitoring my heart for possible issues. I have gone from being a very active and healthy to a complete mess. I have seen my endo doctor on several occasions and every time they run tests my thyroid levels come back fine (so they say) and my meds never get changed. I feel like my symptoms have gotten worse. My hair is falling out, my skin is super dry and itchy,im extremely tired and moody. HELP???? D:

  • Im a swimmer and I have hypothyroidism. My levels were extremely high. We started the medicine 2 years ago. I swim for an hour and a half for 4days a week. I cant stop swimming but i need to lose weight. Is there another way you can lose weight without lowering your exersize down?

  • Hi Dr..The idea for weight loss is to do 15-30 minute workouts..is that per day or can it be done 2-3 times a day for 15-30 minutes? I do intense weight lifting with my husband but I have the most problems with belly fat that I can't really get rid of. What do you ? Please help

  • If your doctor refuses to change your meds. find another doctor that is more open minded and shares your philosophy. This is your body and your health, the doctor is just an advisor.

  • I'm glad to have come across this, as I've been trying to lose weight for some time, doing programs such as 'Insanity' which is intense exercise 45 minutes a day, my doctor who refuses to change me from Levothyroxine 125mg, thought this was totally acceptable and recommended I also eat 1200 calories a day while doing so. As you can probably guess I felt like I was dying after those 2 months and didn't lose a single pound. I'm glad shorter workouts may be the answer!

    Go back to your doctor and ask (demand) him /her to change your medication to a t4/t3 combo and she how that works.

I have hypothyrodims since im 11year old and im now 20. and ive been taking synthroid 25 and gone up to 100 -112 but i have gain weight and i still feel the same tired a bit depres and i been eating heathy most of the time but still i gain weight no matter what. i think the pill im taking hasnt even work. should i stop using it and drink natural pill for tyroids or what should i do?

  • Thank you for your vid Dr. Kevin! Hoooly cow!! I wish I watched this vid before working out tonight!! I just finished a 2 hour workout. I'm addicted to working out. I had no idea that it could have a negative impact on metabolism. I am so glad I saw this. I need to change up the workouts.

  • If you don't feel well, demand a change don't ask. This is your body and health not his/hers.

  • I'm elderly and have had myasthenia gravis for some 30 years. Any intense exercising is beyond what I can do as I do well to handle daily chores with some walking. I watch what I eat and still gain weight which puts an extra strain on muscles that don't need that. I was switched from synthetic thyroid to natural when it was found I couldn't convert the T-4 to T-3. Is there a way to handle weight loss when exercise is so limited? Or is it a matter that the dose may be incorrect?

    Walks are great for clearing your head and de-stressing. However, if you're looking to lose weight or body fat you need intense exercise but only for a short period of time.

  • Interesting info, thank you for the tip. I guess I need to cut my 45 min rapid walks down a little bit or do more 15 min T-Tapp exercise. Now just to figure out the rest of the Hashimoto puzzle 🙂 Thanks!

  • Focus on getting your treatment right…you may want to try another med. if you don't get results with synthroid.
